Senior Actuary
Remote from Oregon, Washington, Idaho & UtahPrimary Job Purpose
The Government Programs Pricing team provides pricing, strategy, and design support for fully insured Government Programs products: individual and group plans for Medicare Advantage, including Part D. Supports regulatory compliance activities and due diligence for potential program changes. Monitors product performance to inform future design and pricing actions. Growth in these Medicare products are a key focus for the company and this position provides an exciting opportunity for meaningful contributions to the strategy and success of these products.

The Senior Actuary I is responsible for proactively managing and retrospectively tracking and reporting on the financial and risk positions within the company, and supporting the strategic goals of the corporation. Within that context, the Senior Actuary performs and runs technical, analytical, support, and leadership functions to help the division and the company meet its goalsGeneral Functions and Outcomes

Responsible for corporate profitability by prudent management of risk.

Provides actuarial support to any or all divisions of the organization.

Performs actuarial certification duties for the corporation.

Serves as professional expert internally and externally, and actively works to continually enhance the credibility of the Actuarial division in support of corporate strategic goals.

Proactively identifies actuarial issues and concerns to management.

Completes all level of peer review, both technical and reasonableness.

Represents Actuarial on cross- functional work groups.

Develops work plans for new projects.

Develops methodology for new complex projects.

Develops and supports ad-hoc or complex assumptions, recommendations and opinions.

Coaches and mentors junior staff.

Supervises Interns.

Manages complex team projects.

Delivers complex messages to all organizational levels and customers.

Recommends and implements team process improvements.

Leads team during Managers absence.

Actively participates in the divisions peer review processes.

May assist, train, and learn from other team members.Minimum Requirements

Member of the American Academy of Actuaries in good standing.

Associate or Fellow in the Society of Actuaries in good standing.

Proven ability to perform and manage complex tasks without management assistance.

Highly advanced analytical and problem solving skills.

Demonstrated success with project management.

Highly developed business sense (finance, accounting, economics, risk management).

Solid oral and written communication skills.

Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Access and SAS).

Ability to manage complex projects and solve issues with large financial and/or risk impact to the corporation.

Demonstrated competency in performing all Actuary Associate III duties.
Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above

Bachelors degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, economics, computer science or an equivalent related field. Minimum 7 years experience or Career ASA, MAAA with a minimum of 10 years experience.Work Environment
