Career Transitions is engaged wtih a leading innovator in their respected industry and due to rapid growth are looking to add a dynamic EHS Specialist to their team!
What you are doing as an EHS Specialist:
- Coordinates the execution of actions within the organization necessary for successful oversight of the physical plant and implementation of Environmental, Health Safety and Security initiatives
- Plans and coordinates health, safety, and environmental training programs; prepares materials, coordinates, schedules and presents training classes, evaluates program effectiveness. (e.g., Onboarding, Hazard Communication, Lock Out Tag Out, Rider Safety, Hazardous Waste Management, Storm Water Management, etc.)
- Conduct routine safety and environmental inspections and audits; ensures compliance with internal and external regulatory standards, corrects on-the-spot violations; informs department findings, recommends corrective or preventative measures, and performs follow-up inspections
- Proactively investigates near misses and analyzes EHS reports and facility statistics for trends and patterns to identify potential improvement opportunities
- Monitors local EHS regulatory developments and implements appropriate responsive programs
- Serves as a resource on facility wide issues related to personnel and asset safety, EHS compliance, emergency action planning and site security
- Prepares and maintains required EHS documentation and reports to ensure local, state, and federal compliance
- Provides technical assistance to plant personnel on EHS issues
- Tracks progress on corrective actions related to EHS and security issues and ensures that actions are fully implemented, effective and sustainable
- Assists with Department of Transportation fleet oversight and compliance
What you need as an EHS Specialist:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 3+ Years of experience in an industrial health, safety and environmental role in a manufacturing setting is required
- Must be able to read and understand EHS rules & regulations
- Must be able to conduct effective employee training programs
- Must be able to build relationships, exercise influence and lead change to meet EHS objectives
- Must have great communication, record keeping and organizational skills
