Job Description

Electrical Engineer - Low Voltage Control Panel Design

Golden, CO 80401

Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.

The client needs an Associate Electrical in our Golden, CO office. This person will interact directly with the customer and/or a team of company engineers and drafters in identifying requirements, developing specifications, and implementing/testing/commissioning/qualifying electrical solutions. The engineer researches systems ideas and draws up plans for power and control at 480 VAC and below, including instrumentation and control devices. The engineer is responsible for reviewing specifications and developing system specifications and drawing packages. The engineer conducts factory tests as needed. In addition, they provide support throughout the manufacturing and commissioning of the electrical and control systems they have designed.

Major Responsibilities

Responsible for 480 VAC design and drawings including motor branch circuits, power distribution and transformation, MCC design and specification, and electrical equipment specification.
Responsible for hazardous area design including Class I Div. 1 and Div. 2 code and design requirements.
Instrument specification, wiring, troubleshooting, and calibration.
Develops schematics detailing control system configuration and wiring, and design equipment panel layouts. This effort includes the ability to architect and specify control system designs and give work direction to technicians creating the drawings.
Knowledge of the NEC and associated national, state and local code requirements.
Work at customer site to perform the system checkout and start-up of electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems.
Develop the final record system documentation and provide system training to the customer.
Individual will be working on electrical and control system integration projects for clients across multiple industries including life sciences.
Must have a diverse engineering skillset with the ability to work independently. Should be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. May act as Technical Lead or Project Manager on smaller projects ranging from $50K to $250K. This includes but not limited to:
Develops and executes implementation plans for the project.
Assigns work to meet overall project deadlines.
Ensures that all project team members clearly understand the scope of W-M responsibilities.
Develops schedules for W-M and customer requirements.
Evaluates progress on project and details changes.
Responsible for all purchasing and subcontractor requirements.
Responsible for development of costs and proposal of change orders to contract scope.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary):

1. A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent experience is required.

2. Interest in progressing to a PE license is preferred.

3. Two to five years of experience with capabilities in below areas:

(Please indicate # of years experience in each)

a. Preparation of electrical, instrumentation, and PLC control panel specifications for purchase of materials and equipment and/or the solicitations of labor.

b. Experience in design of electrical schematics, including power distribution 480VAC and under.

c. Experience in the installation, checkout, and commissioning of electrical, instruments, and control systems.

d. Knowledge of the NEC and associated national, state and local code requirements; includes hazardous area requirements.

e. Familiar with construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.

f. Familiar with construction and installation standards and specifications for use by electrical contractors.

g. Document and organize projects according to established procedures using various tools including computer software such as CAD, Excel, and Visual Manufacturing.

h. Review of fabricator and external design drawings, documentation and fabrication sequence.

i. Provide cost estimates for electrical controls according to established guidelines.

j. Monitor status and ensure delivery of project deliverables within budgeted cost and schedule.

k. Experience in industries such as Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Oil & Gas and Mining.

l. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills needed. Ability to communicate and work with both team members, subcontractors and clients.

m. Experience with PLC programming is preferred.

n. Experience with AutoCAD is desired.

4. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
