Metalizing Technician

ATSS Engineering has a client in Fairhope, AL seeking to fill a Metalizing Tech position, please see job description below.

This position works a 4/10 work schedule (Monday - Thursday 2:00pm to 12:00pm midnight) but will initially train on 1^st shift (5:30am 3:00pm). Salary range is $20 - $22.

Its a regular FT position but could possibly be temp to perm.

Metalizing Technician:

Purpose of position: To prepare and repair various machine parts and components.

Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).

1. Performs specialized repairs to parts and components in accordance with overhaul manuals using a verity of tooling such as Blast media machine, Weld spray machine, Chemical requirements, various heat ovens and tools associated with standard Metal Spray applications.


2. Responsible for cleaning and prepping parts, grit blasting, vapor degreasing. Including application of masking tapes, paints, corks and plugs.


3. Operates plasma spray robot including creating and editing programs.


4. Utilizes wire fed flame spray guns


5. Maintains control of all necessary tags, WCDs and any other production-required paper work.


6. Operates special tooling and other associated equipment in support of the production schedule.


7. Perform daily tasks as directed by the Production Supervisor and Production Manager


8. Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. safety-glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.)


9. Maintains a clean working environment throughout the day.


10. Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy.


11. Attends all safety and other training, as required, in a timely manner.


12. Works overtime as needed


13. Performs other duties as required.

Skills, knowledge and abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).

1. Must supply own tools to perform essential functions and do own set ups.


2. Must be able to obtain needed information and data from FARs, bulletins, drawings, blue prints and maintenance manuals to perform assigned maintenance functions.


3. Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisors.


4. Must be able to work with little supervision and to take initiative.


5. Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations.


6. Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English


7. Must have basic computer skills to run specific company software and Microsoft Office Word and Excel.


8. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, area, circumference and volume.


9. Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools and specialized sprayer equipment effectively.


10. Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all PPE


11. Must have knowledge of precision measuring tools/equipment.


12. Must be able to see clearly with or without corrective lenses.


13. Must be able to hear running machinery.


14. Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively.


15. Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination.


16. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally.


17. Must regularly be able to reach overhead.


18. Must regularly be able to squat, bend, twist, stoop and stand.


19. Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally.


20. Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions

Experience and Education Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age or older. High School Diploma or GED. Three (3) years of experience as a machinist preferred. Experience working in a manufacturing and or MRO environment preferred. Must pass a criminal background check and DOT drug screen and comply with all FAA regulations.

Work conditions:

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise is generally loud.
