Create innovative ad-tech solutions to optimize the ad monetization and experience on eBay. Creating a valuable experience for both buyers and sellers, while also driving performance for advertisers is at the core of what we do on the Advertising Team. We are innovating rapidly in the ad-tech space and there is no shortage of new challenges for motivated individuals. In this role, you will work in a fast-paced environment collaborating closely with designers, product managers and engineers (iOS, Android, frontend, backend, machine learning, quality) to revolutionize the advertising space for eBay and beyond.

Role Description

As an Engineering Manager for Merchandising, you will lead a middleware services development team, launching exciting new features and services that will be utilized by eBay client platforms including iOS, Android, Desktop Web and Mobile Web. If you enjoy learning and working with skilled engineers from a variety of experiences and walks of life, this is a good place to be.
Partner with product managers, analysts and other engineering teams across eBay to scale our Ads business beyond $1B.
Foster innovation, high quality product delivery, and engineering excellence.
Recruit and develop great engineering talent, motivate and inspire them to do their best every day.

You will also be expected to:

Integrate closely w/ colleagues in different functional groups and remote offices
Communicate effectively within your team and across teams
Balance strong ownership and teamwork
Prioritize and set goals for the team that are aligned with the product strategy and roadmap
Support development goals and growth of individuals within the team

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science or related field
6+ years of industry and management experience
Experience in developing web service applications and related technologies: RESTful services, JSON, OpenAPI, Swagger, etc
Experience with web service programming languages: Java, Kotlin, Scala, Node, Python, etc.
Experience using web services frameworks (Spring, Spring Boot, Express, etc.)
Experience with non-relational and relational database engines (i.e. MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, and MongoDB)
Leader who enjoys mentoring engineers and building high-performance teams
Experience successfully working with partner engineering and product teams
Experience working in Agile teams
