Job Description
Title: DataCenter Technician
Type: Contract
- One (1) year of experience with inventory control
- Two (2) years of experience working in a data center or has attained SBT III level at SoftLayer IBM IaaS
- One (1) year of experience working with Excel, Access, Word, Outlook
- Experience troubleshooting servers, workstations, and various hardware component
- Holds a valid license to drive with any locally required endorsements, skills, or safety requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be able to lift 50 LBS
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identifying liquidation servers (EoL) within a production environment.
- Initiate and complete automation system updates.
- Remove hardware components (salvage components) from EoL servers.
- Remove storage media (hard drive) and further process to procedures.
- Administratively update Internal Management System (IMS) assets within the database to status and location.
- Properly prepare EoL servers for shipping.
- Palletize all EoL servers using shipping material (strapping and shrink wrap).
Required Abilities Include:
Physical hand-on hardware touches (disassembly of chassis/server)
Palletizing and shrink wrapping
Administrative data entry
Effective communications with other personnel
Comprehension and following procedures and polices
