Job Description

Title: DataCenter Technician
Type: Contract
  • One (1) year of experience with inventory control
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a data center or has attained SBT III level at SoftLayer IBM IaaS
  • One (1) year of experience working with Excel, Access, Word, Outlook
  • Experience troubleshooting servers, workstations, and various hardware component
  • Holds a valid license to drive with any locally required endorsements, skills, or safety requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to lift 50 LBS

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Identifying liquidation servers (EoL) within a production environment.
  2. Initiate and complete automation system updates.
  3. Remove hardware components (salvage components) from EoL servers.
  4. Remove storage media (hard drive) and further process to procedures.
  5. Administratively update Internal Management System (IMS) assets within the database to status and location.
  6. Properly prepare EoL servers for shipping.
  7. Palletize all EoL servers using shipping material (strapping and shrink wrap).

Required Abilities Include:
Physical hand-on hardware touches (disassembly of chassis/server)
Palletizing and shrink wrapping
Administrative data entry
Effective communications with other personnel
Comprehension and following procedures and polices
