Performs initial assessment, admits and prepares patient for appropriate surgical/special procedure. Acts as a liaison between operative team and family. Provides postoperative care and support. Implements discharge plan. Provides specialized treatments and procedures, patient and family teaching. Provides professional, courteous, and emphatic service to a population ranging from infants to adults. Performs Pre- Op Clinic duties as needed. BCLS, ACLS and PALS required. Essential Functions: a) Provides care for patients in Pre-Op Clinic, Same Day Surgery, PACU, and Special Procedures.b) Completes assessments, makes nursing diagnosis, and implements plan of care for individuals of all ages.c) Responsible for teaching and support of patient and family from preoperative/pre-procedure through post-operative/post procedure care.d) Documents all aspects of patient care.e) Performs resuscitation and stabilization according to established standard.f) Operates all equipment in the department.g) Demonstrates ability to assist with procedures.h) Assumes responsibility for maintaining adequate supplies and keeping work areas orderly.i) Competent in all specialties of the Department.j) Functions in charge nurse rotation as needed.k) Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Physical Demands: Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods. Fine motor skills. Visual acuity. Qualifications & Skills:a) Education: Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program with a Degree in Nursing. b) Training & Experience: Experience is preferred. Orientation is based on previous knowledge and experience. Additional education/training in related field is considered on an individual basis. CAPA or CPAN certification is recommended. Active membership in professional organizations (ASPAN/ONS/SGNA) is highly recommended. BCLS required upon hire. ACLS and PALS or ENPC required within 9 months of hire. c) Job Knowledge: Encompasses a wide range of nursing, psycho-social and medical information which includes nursing process, communication and problem solving, assessment and prioritizing skills. Experience with infusions.
Shift: Days - 4 10 hour shifts with call
