Senior Linux/Unix Administrator

Job Summary

The job participates in the design of automated, scalable, and rapidly deployable solutions to systems infrastructure and server configuration. Installs, configures, and maintains operating systems, monitoring and alerting systems, utility software,. Plans and executes hands-on maintenance for production Linux and HP-UX servers.. You will configure, manage, and support the Center's large-scale computing infrastructure, including installing and deploying new systems, automating, maintaining, and ensuring security and compliance on all aspects of computer systems from low-level hardware to higher level tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, manage, and support large-scale computing infrastructure.
• Monitor infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, participate in security and compliance activities, process RMAs, and collect & report logging and metrics.
• Support the growth of our existing large physical infrastructure in a hybrid model with public clouds in a secure, stable, and maintainable manner.
• Deploy new systems.
• Able to develop shell scripts for basic administrative functions
• Ensure Security and Compliance of systems.
• Maintains complex system administration functions. Works with minimal guidance to administer simple systems and assists in the administration of larger systems.
• Installs, configures, and maintains operating system linux and HP-UX servers. Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels, acquiring higher - level skills in the process.
• Ensures integrity by implementing appropriate routine software and hardware solutions. Conducts routine hardware and software audits and responsible, backing up all information.
• Maintains all supporting documentation for comprehensive operating system, hardware and software configuration. Monitors primary responses for information technology related security incidents and violations. Keeps current with new security and network monitoring technologies, applicable laws, and regulations.
• Performs other related work as needed.
• Installed new/rebuild existing systems (Physical and virtual) in accordance with standard and operational requirements. Linux)
• Provide technical leadership to junior system administrators.
• Be available for on-call rotation for the teams 24x7 support coverage.

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• 10+ years of Redhat Linux systems administration experience.
• 4+ years of HP-UX systems administration experience.
• Experience with Linux scripting and/or programming.
• Familiarity with virtualization.
• Experience with Bladelogic, Logic Monitor
• Experience with distributed file systems,
• Experience with Git.
• Experience with secured environments or protected data.
• 2+ years of experience with suse10
• 2+ years of experience with Veritas Cluster.
