Job Description

Vcfo is partnering with a family owned, Austin based food company to find an Assistant Controller-CPA. Join in this newly created position as a critical member of the accounting team during this time of high growth. Since its founding 70 years ago, their focus on sustainability, commitment to quality, the strictest cleanliness protocols, and exceeding customer expectations has been the foundation for their success. They have a passion for their craft, and it can be tasted in their ethically sourced finished products. Their customers include some of Texass premier upscale dining establishments.
As they move into the next level, they are looking for an Assistant Controller-CPA that is highly engaged, motivated, curious, energetic, and collaborative to join as a key member of the accounting team.

About the Role:
Our client is on track to deliver tremendous growth over the next several years and as an Assistant Controller-CPA, you will support the financial and operational strategy that will enable them to achieve this growth. You will work directly with the Controller and build relationships with key members of the operations. You will play a hands-on role in supporting the company's finance function and grow your personal career in this organization that values internal promotion.

As Assistant Controller-CPA, your role will include:
Act as a partner to the Controller
Prepare and consolidate financial statements
Work with company financial team to create and maintain internal controls and policies
Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses
Coordinate and assist with the budget process
Work closely with the Controller to coordinate and complete accounting close processes
Assist with general ledger accounting activities
Work closely with operations on cost accounting activities
Ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards
Prepare and assist with audits
Ad-hoc reporting, special projects and other duties as assigned

This role could be a fit for you if you bring:
2+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing or food processing Degree in accounting, finance, or in a related field
Professional CPA certification required
Experience in calculating Cost of Goods or Product Costing
Demonstrated understanding of GAAP accounting
Strong computer skills and knowledge of accounting software programs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Excellent math and accounting skills
You are an expert problem solver - you are comfortable in dissecting ambiguous situations and excel in providing recommendations on a path forward
You provide positive inspired work product and take accountability for your deliverables
You are hands on and will don your hairnet and steel toe boots to walk the processing area
