Masai School, a series A funded JobTech start-up, is on a mission to pioneer a new model of accessible higher education with no upfront costs and where the school invests in the students instead of the other way around. We are rethinking learning so that we can address the needs of both students and employers in tandem. Masai school offers intensive & immersive courses that impart technical skills and soft skills needed to launch a new tech career. We offer both full time and part time courses to our students.
We are looking for an experienced data engineer to join our team. You will use various methods to transform raw data into useful data systems. For example, you ll create algorithms and conduct statistical analysis. Overall, you ll strive for efficiency by aligning data systems with business goals. To succeed in this data engineering position, you should have strong analytical skills and the ability to combine data from different sources. Data engineer skills also include familiarity with several programming languages and knowledge of learning machine methods.If you are detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills and experience in this field, we d like to hear from you
What is expected out of you?
- Provide quality assurance of imported data, working with quality assurance analysts if necessary.
- Build custom integrations between cloud-based systems using APIs
- Write complex and efficient queries to transform raw data sources into easily accessible models by coding across several languages such as Python and SQL
- Architect, build, and launch new data models that provide intuitive analytics to the team
- Build data expertise and own data quality for the pipelines you create.
- Helping develop reports and analysis.
- Managing and designing the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata.
- Supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
- Facilitate root cause analysis of system issues
- Clearly and regularly communicate with management and technical support colleagues
- Ability to work with distributed/remote teams.
- We need fundamentally curious people who are happy to try new (and potentially unusual) approaches to solve problems.
What you will need to bring?
- Masters/Bachelors in Computer Science background from a top-tier institution OR with 2+ years of relevant work experience in Analytics and Data Science domain.
- Expertise in building out data pipelines, efficient ETL design, implementation, and maintenance
- Experience with AWS tools.
- Proven track-record of solving complex data processing and storage challenges through scalable, fault-tolerant architecture.
- Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in working with large datasets, data mining, statistical methods, and Dashboard building.
- Ability to analyze large, complex, multidimensional datasets with a variety of tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team as an individual contributor.
We are looking for people who are excited by data, and excited by business, and excited in bringing the two together to create high impact. We are a fast-paced team and expect quick turnarounds. Most of the problems we work on are ambiguous, and resolving ambiguity is a key part of the role.
Startup experience is a plus. Managerial experience is a plus.
