NLP Research Engineer

Love working with large transformer models? Then this might be your thing!

Caplena is an award-winning Swiss tech start-up. It is *the* AI tool to analyze open-ended feedback, wherever it may come from - helping customers to get from texts to real insights, with ease and in no time. We have trained a huge transformer model from scratch (I know it may seem mad but totally worth it ) to get the maximum possible accuracy for this task. This model does topic generation, classification and aspect-level sentiment all in one gigantic model for 31 languages.

Having closed our first funding round, we're looking for curious minds who are eager to work on state-of-the-art NLP. You will become an integral part of our hands-on & fun team (16 people) and have a big impact on the future development of our software. We are fast-growing with close to 130+ active customers in more than 15+ countries across a multitude of industries including some big names like eBay and DHL.

Tasks

Experimental tasks:

• Improve the topic generation
• Make the classification even more accurate and context-aware
• Solve additional NLP use cases for our app

"ML-Ops":

• Automate our re-training pipeline
• Improve inference speed

Requirements

• MSc in Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent education;
• Hands-on experience with transformer models;
• Solid understanding of NLP in general (embeddings, encoder-decoder architecture, types of tasks, etc.);
• Minimum 1 year of experience programming in Python;
• Experience with Tensorflow is a plus;
• Performance issues are challenges you indulge in, not something you dread;
• GTD > Meetings;
• Solid written communication in English; German not required but a plus;
• Upbeat team player.
