Job Description

SimScale is an engineering simulation platform that is revolutionizing the way engineers, designers, scientists, and architects design products. The SimScale platform is accessible completely via a web browser, with an easy-to-use interface which supports numerous simulation types including Structural Mechanics, Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics.

By harnessing the power of the cloud for simulation, SimScale eliminates the hurdles that accompany traditional simulation tools: high installation costs, licensing fees, deployment of high-performance computing hardware, and required updates and maintenance. Users always have the latest version of SimScale.

Your Opportunity

SimScale s mission, democratizing engineering simulations, comes with its own data challenges. We deal with petabytes of information that we want to be able to leverage in order to generate business value. How can we make those data available for machine learning? As a Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d) you will be shaping the answers to those questions on a daily basis.

  • Industry experience managing large amounts of data in a complex environment (several stakeholders, machine learning demands)
  • Experience with big data technologies (Open-source: Spark, Kafka, Kudu)
  • AWS knowledge (lambda/step functions, S3, Glue, Sagemaker)
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Experience with corporate dashboards, data governance strategies
  • Experience dealing with non-technical stakeholders (marketing, sales, C-suite)
  • Excellent ability to learn fast and pick up new libraries, programming languages, and algorithms
  • Familiarity with an agile way of working
  • Experience as a data scientist, or machine learning engineer is a plus
  • Having worked in a migration project from traditional data warehouses to big data / cloud infrastructure is also beneficial
