Job Description

Seeking aSenior Test Engineer for an established electronics manufacturing company for the aerospace, defense and military industry based in Bohemia, NY.

The ideal candidate has5+ years of experience in developing Automated Test Equipment, both test hardware/fixtures and software for products in electronics or similar. In addition, 5+ years of experience designing, documenting, and executing Acceptance Tests (ATP), Design Verification Tests (DVT), and Qualification Tests. You have demonstrated ability to develop, articulate and present technical information appropriately targeted to meet the needs of audiences at all levels, including highly technical to non-technical, in both written and verbal forms.

What you will do:
Develop automated test solutions, including leading and managing test design team members, which may include outsourced and offshored team members.
  • Design and develop Automated Test Equipment (ATE) test solutions, both test hardware/fixtures and software, to perform production/manufacturing test of products developed.
  • Work with design and manufacturing teams to support development of production test plans, acceptance test procedures (ATP), and test documentation.
  • Analyze electrical/mechanical requirements to determine feasibility of design, including adapters, to create fully automated Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and ESS thermal test solutions from requirements flowed down by the design engineering team.
  • Responsible for presenting, both written and oral, communication of ATE design, test results and project status to all levels within the organization.
  • Develop plans, schedules, and identify resources required to develop test systems for production requirements and design engineering evaluations.
  • Research new equipment, methods and techniques and implement changes to provide cost effective test solutions.
  • Perform failure analysis investigations during new product development and in support of manufacturing.
  • Provide feedback and/or specific recommendations to facilitate product improvement.
  • Participate in vendor/outsource selection and management to help with design and develop ATE for in house products.
  • Provide day to day Operations test support to test technicians on the manufacturing test floor to assure quality, cost and schedule goals are met.


Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. Graduate degree desirable.
  • Experience in architecting, designing, analyzing, coding and code modification (typically in C#/C/C++, Visual Basic, Test Stand, Labview and or CVI ) of test hardware and software designs for modules, systems , subsystems or of test stand systems.
  • Knowledge of different testing methodologies (e.g., White/Gray/Black box testing).
  • Good understanding of the testing of analog/mixed signal products.
  • Experience in vendor or outsource selection and implementation.
  • Experience testing critical, small signal circuitry and measurement noise elimination techniques.
  • Experience in Production and Factory environments including procedure development, test, training, transition planning, installation, and deployment.
  • Solid understanding of electronic engineering fundamentals, design for test and manufacturing concepts.
  • Strong programming skills for writing and debugging test programs.
  • Strong knowledge of various types of test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power meters, DMMs).
