Job Description
- Inspecting electrical equipment to ensure that it is safe to use
- Installing new electrical wiring and fixtures in buildings, including commercial buildings such as offices, hospitals, schools, and retail stores
- Working with other contractors during construction projects to ensure that electrical work meets code requirements
- Installing electrical equipment such as light fixtures, switches, outlets, and junction boxes
- Installing electrical wiring in new structures such as commercial buildings or residences
- Installing electrical meters to measure electrical usage in homes or businesses
- Working with electricians who specialize in other areas of electrical work such as residential or industrial
- Repairing electrical problems in existing wiring systems, including repairing damaged insulation on wires or disconnecting and reconnecting fuses or breakers in circuit breakers
- Installing and maintaining electrical systems in a variety of settings such as industrial plants, schools, hospitals, and office buildings
