Job Description
Roessel Joy has partnered with a Law Practice in the Boston area. They are seeking a talented Controller to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience and has experience in the professional services field.
Job Responsibilities:
- Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions including banking transactions, receivables, payables, customer payoffs, customer lending transactions, deposits, and customer requests
- Preparing monthly financial statements, fixed assets register, and month end process
- Improving accounting processes to streamline daily accounting activities
- Reviewing biweekly payroll register from payroll department
- Reviewing and releasing ACH and wire payments to customers and vendors
- Preparing sales tax returns, 1099 filings, and property tax payments for company
- Facilitating the creation of training guides/videos to standardize accounting policies and procedures
- Assisting with daily accounting tasks (bank recs, deposits, A/P, A/R, payoffs, customer payments, customer phone calls) as necessary
- Hiring, training, and retaining accounting staff
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting
- 7+ years of experience
- Proficient in excel
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
