Job Title: Construction Quantity Surveyor
Location: Blackheath Cape Town
Salary: R350000 to R390000 per year

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detailoriented Construction Quantity Surveyor to join our team based in Blackheath Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of our construction projects. This includes both new construction works and alteration projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Management: Prepare and manage project budgets ensuring that all costs are controlled and in line with financial constraints. Monitor the financial progress of projects maintain cash flow forecasts and manage the payment process for contractors and subcontractors.
• Contract Management: Administer contracts primarily under JBCC and NEC frameworks ensuring that all contract conditions are met and any variations are documented and approved. Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes.
• Project Assessment: Conduct feasibility studies and prepare cost estimates for projects ensuring accuracy and completeness. Review and verify tender documents bills of quantities and other documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Valuations and Payments: Conduct valuations for interim payments and the final account ensuring all work is measured accurately and payments are processed timely. Evaluate and certify subcontractor claims and variations.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the financial and contractual aspects of projects and propose solutions to mitigate them. Ensure all documentation is prepared in compliance with contractual obligations and company standards.
• Reporting: Prepare regular reports on the financial and contractual status of projects including cost reports cash flow forecasts and budget variances. Report directly to senior management on project progress and financial status.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• Extensive experience working on projects valued at R5 million and above.
• Proven track record in managing both new construction works and alteration projects.
• Indepth knowledge of JBCC and NEC contract frameworks is essential.
• Strong analytical skills attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in relevant Quantity Surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• A valid drivers license and own vehicle are required for site visits and meetings.

Location: The successful candidate will be based in Blackheath with occasional travel to various project sites.
