Job Description |
Position: Occupational Therapist Location: Lancaster CA Job Overview: The school is seeking a dedicated and experienced fulltime Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The OT will work collaboratively with educators therapists and families to support the sensory motor and functional needs of our students helping them achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities: -
Assessment and Evaluation: - Conduct comprehensive assessments of students’ motor skills sensory processing and functional abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and the unique needs of each student.
- Utilize a variety of assessment tools and techniques to evaluate students needs and progress.

Therapeutic Intervention: - Provide direct occupational therapy services to students with ASD.
- Implement evidencebased intervention strategies to address motor sensory and functional goals.
- Adapt therapy techniques and activities to meet the individual needs of each student.

Collaboration and Consultation: - Work collaboratively with teachers speech therapists behavior specialists and other school staff to support students’ occupational therapy needs.
- Provide consultation and training to educators and parents on effective strategies to support students development.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs).

Documentation and Reporting: - Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and therapy sessions.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for IEP meetings progress reviews and other evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding occupational therapy services.

Family Involvement: - Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding students’ progress and therapy goals.
- Provide resources and support to families to help them reinforce therapeutic activities at home.
- Involve families in the therapy process and encourage their active participation.

Professional Development: - Stay current with best practices and research in the field of occupational therapy.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
- Maintain licensure and certifications as required by the state and professional organizations.
Qualifications: - Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure in California.
- Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.
- Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders or related developmental disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of evidencebased practices in occupational therapy.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
