Our client a leading insurance company is looking for an excellent talent to join their firm:
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage the underwriting team providing guidance mentorship and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative and highperformance culture within the team.
- Recruit train and develop underwriting staff to ensure a high level of expertise and professionalism.
- Underwriting Strategy and Policy:
- Develop and implement underwriting policies and guidelines to ensure consistent risk assessment and decisionmaking.
- Set underwriting standards and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Continuously review and improve underwriting processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Risk Assessment and Management:
- Oversee the evaluation and assessment of insurance applications to determine risk and appropriate coverage terms.
- Ensure that underwriting decisions are made within the framework of the company s risk appetite and underwriting guidelines.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging risks to adjust underwriting strategies accordingly.
- Portfolio Management:
- Manage the underwriting portfolio to ensure profitability and balanced risk exposure.
- Analyze portfolio performance and make datadriven decisions to optimize underwriting results.
- Implement corrective actions as needed to address adverse trends or underperforming segments.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other departments including sales claims and actuarial to support overall business objectives.
- Communicate underwriting decisions and rationale to internal stakeholders and external clients as necessary.
- Represent the underwriting department in meetings with senior management and other key stakeholders.
- Product Development and Innovation:
- Collaborate with product development teams to design and refine insurance products.
- Provide underwriting insights and feedback to ensure new products meet market needs and risk management standards.
- Stay abreast of industry developments and leverage new technologies and data analytics to enhance underwriting practices.
- Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations industry standards and internal policies.
- Conduct regular audits of underwriting activities to ensure adherence to guidelines and identify areas for improvement.
- Address any compliance issues or audit findings in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Business Administration Finance Insurance or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g. CPCU ARM) preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of underwriting experience in the insurance industry with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and decisionmaking abilities.
- Indepth knowledge of underwriting principles practices and regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and data analytics tools.
