Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the departments goals and objectives.
- Manage the monthend and yearend close process.
- Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
- Support budget and forecasting activities.
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- General Ledger:
- Oversee and ensure accurate and timely financial transactions are recorded.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger including the chart of accounts.
- Perform monthly balance sheet income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analysis.
- Internal Controls:
- Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Audit:
- Coordinate the preparation of annual financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
- Support and manage the annual audit process.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor the accounting team.
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
- Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts absenteeism performance issues etc.
- Reporting:
- Provide financial analyses and reports as needed for management stakeholders and external parties.
- Prepare financial statements business activity reports financial position forecasts budgets and/or reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Assist the CFO in the annual budgeting and planning process.
- Strategic Planning:
- Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the development of the companys financial strategy.
- Provide insights and recommendations to both shortterm and longterm growth plans of the organization.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Stay informed about current legislation relating to finance and accounting.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field. CPA or CMA preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 710 years of progressive accounting experience including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
