N-24-47 Data Scientist Statistical Specialist

The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Data Scientist & Statistical Specialist to enhance our Digital & Data division.

The position: The selected candidate will contribute to CIP s digital transformation efforts with a particular emphasis on leveraging data and new digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to advance scientific research and innovation. This role is focused on data science with a strong emphasis on analytics. The position will be based in Lima Peru and will report to the Systems and Data Management Officer.

Key responsibilities:

• Contribute strategically to the planning and execution of data management initiatives within the organization providing specialized expertise and insights.
  

• Oversee and manage the daytoday operations related to data management demonstrating proficiency in implementing and maintaining protocols.
  

• Support Open Access (OA) and Open Data (OD) initiatives to increase the visibility accessibility and impact of CIP s research products aligning with organizational policies and guidelines.
  

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for enhancing data management systems Apps databases and tools providing input based on specialized knowledge.
  

• Spearhead the implementation of "Ask the Data" functionality in CIPs data repositories utilizing LangChain and integrating OpenAI for natural language processing.
  

• Contribute to the development of applications and dashboards to support the integration of AI technologies leveraging expertise in data science and analysis.
  

• Comply with applicable health and safety CIP policies and procedures.
