Position Overview:
The Certified Payroll Specialist will manage all aspects of payroll processing and ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations. This role requires a meticulous individual with strong analytical skills and extensive knowledge of payroll systems and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Accurately process payroll for all employees including salaried hourly and contract workers on a biweekly basis.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal state and local laws and regulations including tax reporting and wage and hour laws.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit payroll reports including wage summaries tax reports and compliance documentation.
- Benefits Administration: Manage payrollrelated benefits such as health insurance retirement plans and other employee deductions.
- Auditing: Conduct regular audits of payroll procedures and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Issue Resolution: Address and resolve payrollrelated inquiries and discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions employee deductions and benefit contributions.
- System Management: Utilize and manage payroll software systems for processing payroll and generating reports.
- Training and Development: Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations and provide training to staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Payroll Specialist (CPS) certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of X years of experience in payroll processing and management.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field preferred.
- Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of payroll systems labor laws and tax regulations.
- Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g. ADP Paycom QuickBooks) strong analytical and problemsolving skills excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts to nonpayroll staff.
