- To succeed in this role collections specialists need to have a range of skills and competencies that enable them to communicate negotiate analyze and resolve issues with payers and patients.

- Be able to read an explanation of benefits (EOB).
- Analytical skills are crucial for a collections specialist.
- Need to be able to use various tools and systems.

- They have to face and overcome various challenges and difficulties in their work.
- Customer service skills.
- Maintain positive and longterm relationships with customers and payers.
- Time management skills.
- Attendance needs to be good.
