Immediate Hire Braille Specialist

• Develop tactile maps and graphs as needed.
  
• Manage inventory of supplies required for daily tasks.
  
• Demonstrate proficiency in English language conventions including spelling grammar and punctuation.
  
• Maintain detailed records of all transcriptions appropriately labeling electronic files for future use.
  
• Organize time effectively to ensure materials are promptly available for students.
  
• Establish and curate a diverse resource library to explore alternative material formats.
  
• Collaborate closely with the Teacher of Students with Vision Impairments (TSVI) to adapt materials as necessary.
  
• Stay updated on technological advancements related to braille production and assistive technology interfaces.
  
• Convert various materials such as books workbooks tests and assignments into accessible formats for visually impaired students.
  

Requirements

• Possession of a Washington State License and Certification for the Braillist position.
  
• Submission of fingerprints to OSPI (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction) before commencement.
