Engineering Manager

Title: Engineering Manager

Location: Petaluma CA

Responsible for a large software development organization in developing and delivering highly secure scalable faulttolerant software products. Candidate must have a strong track record of successfully delivery and motivating and leading highly talented geographically distributed teams comprised of diverse experiences and skill sets.

Duties and responsibilities

• Build and deliver on product organizations vision.
• Direct and oversee onsite and offshore teams.
• Refine improve and extend product capabilities team skills and toolsets to meet the business demand.
• Develop processes to enable software development teams to scale with agile methodologies in product development and quality management.
• Develop and maintain collaborative productive stakeholder relationships particularly with product management software test/ verification & validation quality & regulatory IT and business/ marketing teams.
• Manage project resource staffing and budget. Establish transparent reporting mechanisms to report project timelines personnel allocation project costs risks and risk mitigation.
• Coach and mentor a highly talented team of software engineering leaders.
• Develop organizational goals and objectives with welldefined measures for success.
• Champion innovation in the software development organization and find ways to engage top talent to explore/establish new technical approaches that drive most value to our teams and products.
• Must be able to effectively represent the business in public senior executive and customerfacing speaking environments as a top software technology leader.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies providing thought leadership to the business unit and company.
• Help with cost and performance optimization.
• Implement best security practices and compliance.
• Implement best practices for software development and design patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or masters degree in computer science Engineering or related field.
• Experience working for startups using Agile methodology.
• 15 years experience in software research and management.
• Strong knowledge and handson experience with SaaS and PaaS platforms.
• Strong knowledge and handson experience with cloud orchestration concepts/tools.
• Strong knowledge and handson experience with setting up CI/CD environment.
• Strong experience with managing scaling and cost optimization on cloud.
• String experience with security technologies.
• Experience with containerbased technologies such as Docker or AWS ECS.
• Strong handson coding experience with Golang Python Shell.
• Handson experience with multiple flavors of Linux.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to wear multiple hats when needed.
• Financial services experience is a plus.
