Automotive product design engineer with an emphasis on mechanical design/mechatronics. Current product range is fuel injectors, idle air control valves, evaporative system integrity modules, and solenoid actuated pressure regulators for diesel applications. Areas of design responsibility will vary as new projects are acquired. A successful candidate will have some familiarity with the general operating principles of solenoids and electric motors, cast or molded part casings, and CAD design/FEA.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Product design and development, some test fixture design as desired or needed
- Reverse engineering of existing OE components to determine product specifications
- CAD model and drawing creation
- Perform development and project cost analysis
- Coordinate pilot builds for new product launches
- Resolve technical issues with respect to product performance
- Lead new product design projects up through hand-off to manufacturing
- Consult with Sales and Customers to determine product requirements
- Develop specialized design validation testing as needed
- Design data acquisition methods to determine product testing requirements
- Document investigations with engineering reports

Requirements
- Perform all duties necessary, under the general direction of the Engineering/Production Manager to successfully design and develop new products within the ignition coil and sensor product lines. Electric Motors like for Power Tools and Toys
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 + years of Automotive related Design Experience preferably electrically related to ignition coils
- Experience with Mechatronics, Electric Motors for Power Tools and Toys Ideal

- Experience with ISO or QS systems
- Electric Motor Vacuum Pump Experience +
- Experience with wiring harnesses
