We are looking for a Data Centre Engineer to support our client, a major technology service provider, in delivering an exciting data centre programme that will see over 700 data centres built and/or reformed as part of a Content Delivery Network (CDN). Our clients customer, a large media enterprise, will utilise this CDN to provide cutting-edge streaming services to consumers across the globe.
Key responsibilities
- Join the data centre CDN programme as an experienced Data Centre Engineer
- Conduct as-is assessments of data centres, including asset inventory, cabling analysis, safety checks and adherence to prescribed standards
- Manage subcontractors to carry out remediation activities within the data centres, ensuring that they are consistent and ready for customer handover
- Travel across data centre sites and work methodically and independently to ensure the project schedule is on track
- Report progress and issues to the project team and work closely with other technical resources to resolve issues as they arise

Requirements
- Unrestricted right to work in the EU
- A demonstrable and strong working experience in the data centre field
- Full driving licence and able to travel to data centre sites (own car or rental car - travel expenses paid)
- EU electrical qualification highly desirable
- Hands-on experience with installation and testing of structured cabling
- Experience of installation of rack mountable equipment
- Good level of knowledge about Data Centre Operation and Management procedures
- Experience or ability of developing and documenting operational processes
- Good level of knowledge about data centre power distribution and cooling systems
- Good level of knowledge about monitoring the data centre environment and critical assets
- Working knowledge of the technical requirements and builds of DC (Direct Current) power infrastructures for data centres and telecommunication/IT equipment
- Working knowledge of networking topologies
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and experience of supervising others
- Ability to logically and methodically think through problems
- Detail focused when completing records, tickets and supporting documentation
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal
