Our client is hiring a dynamic Manager of Performance Engineering who will lead the modeling, field testing, and performance validation efforts for our current and next generation solar roofing products.
The ideal candidate must have a proven track record in solar performance engineering, a passion for innovative solar technologies, a strong attention to detail, and must thrive in a fast-paced environment
What will you do?
- Guide, mentor, and help grow our in-house capabilities for solar performance modeling, field testing, metrology, data analytics, diagnostics, and fleet monitoring
- Develop detailed test plans, schedules, and resource requirements for in-lab and in-field tests of solar systems at all life-cycles of product development
- Drive successful execution of in-lab and in-field test plans, including collaboration with and coordination of third party resources
- Manage the design, procurement and/or fabrication of test apparatus and data logging systems for in-lab and in-field solar tests
- Coordinate the development or validation of new and improved models and tools for energy production estimation
- Report results of field tests, model validation, and fleet performance analysis back into the product development pipeline to support design verification and design improvement
Requirements
What do we require from you?
- Minimum MSc or BS in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in engineering, physics, statistical modeling, or other relevant mathematical sciences
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in solar energy performance modeling and monitoring specifically
- 2 years of experience as a personnel manager preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of the fundamental design and common degradation modes of mono-crystaline Si photovoltaic modules
- Demonstrated understanding of typical design and common failure modes of residential photovoltaic systems
- Familiarity with industry standard PV modeling software (i.e. Aurora, Helioscope, PVSyst, System Advisor Model, PVWatts, etc)
- Familiarity with software languages, data analytics, and data visualization platforms (JMP, Python, Matlab, Tableau, etc) preferred
- Creative problem solving skills, demonstrated ability to learn on the job and a can-do attitude
- Proven track record of working well within a cross-functional team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results oriented, process oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to travel within USA and internationally, up to 25% of the time
