Job Description

Sr. Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager
Location: Costa Mesa

Position Summary:
Under general supervision the Sr. Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager will be responsible for planning and directing small to medium projects or individual tasks within large projects. The role involves providing technical direction in collecting and analyzing data coordinating and conducting proposal preparation for small to medium projects and overseeing project budgets and schedules.

Principal Duties:
  • Coordinate and direct small and medium projects ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Prepare project budgets plan project schedules monitor project progress and track and maintain project budgets.
  • Direct staff activities including the collection analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Supervise and direct field and office investigations ensuring accurate and reliable data collection.
  • Utilize computers and peripheral equipment for compilation analysis and presentation of project data.
  • Coordinate and prepare project reports; may act as a client liaison and assist in presenting project findings and results.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractor and consultant activities as assigned.
  • Prepare project proposals including technical approach budget schedule and manpower requirements.
  • Maintain technical competency through participation in trade organizations conferences and seminars.
  • Prepare contract addendums required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Demonstrated competence in the principal duties at a Senior Staff level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline and a minimum of five years of progressively advancing experience in the same or related technical fields or a Master’s degree with three years of experience.
  • EngineerinTraining (EIT) required Professional Engineer (PE) strongly preferred (if no PE yet please submit the date scheduled for PE testing).
  • Appropriately demonstrate technical capability and the ability to effectively supervise and direct personnel and to plan and direct small and medium projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills appropriate for effective inhouse communications client contact and report preparation.
  • 40 hours OSHA 29CFR 1910.120 HAZWOPER Environmental Health and Safety Training.
  • OSHA 29CFR 1910.134 Medical Annual Monitoring.
  • Must work well under pressure meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines and demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
