Job Description

A Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging examinations using various Xray modalities to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. They play a crucial role in producing highquality images while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Interaction and Preparation:

    • Greet and interview patients to obtain relevant medical history and information.
    • Explain the imaging procedure address patient concerns and ensure patient understanding and cooperation.
    • Position and prepare patients for the specific imaging examination.
  2. Xray Imaging Procedures:

    • Operate Xray machines to produce diagnostic images of the designated body part(s).
    • Adjust imaging equipment settings to obtain optimal image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
    • Capture images using conventional Xray fluoroscopy or other specialized techniques.
  3. Contrast Administration:

    • Administer contrast agents when necessary for certain imaging procedures (e.g. CT scans fluoroscopy).
    • Monitor patients for any adverse reactions to contrast agents and follow established protocols for emergencies.
  4. Quality Assurance:

    • Perform routine quality control checks on radiographic equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
    • Follow established protocols for image quality and safety.
  5. Documentation and Recordkeeping:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient information procedural details and any relevant observations.
    • Document any use of contrast media and patient responses.
  6. Radiation Safety:

    • Adhere to safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure risks for patients staff and themselves.
    • Ensure proper use of lead shielding and other protective measures.
  7. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with radiologists nurses and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
    • Provide realtime information to the medical team during imaging procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Licensure or certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) may be required depending on state regulations.
  • Proficient in operating radiographic equipment and associated technologies.
  • Knowledge of anatomy physiology and radiographic techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
