Job Description

Corporate Engineering Director:

This role is responsible for leading corporate engineering and the maintenance functions. It will oversee engineering projects and preventive predictive and corrective repair of production warehouse and building equipment in a food processing environment. Additionally the Corporate Plant Engineering Manager initiates coordinates and manages capital projects. The role will lead continuous improvement and optimization of the manufacturing/production and facilities including opportunities for savings related to energy use and automation implementation. This position will analyze research design develop and implement systems and equipment to drive change through continuous improvement efforts to higher levels of performance in safety quality productivity cost and growth. This position plays a key role in continuously improving all aspects of performance and is responsible for driving and executing continuous improvement and culture in the plant.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives that deliver significant annual savings in direct labor energy and material waste contributing to a zeroloss culture.
  • Manage project execution including scope development engineering design bid process construction vertical startup with management of external technical relationships with contractors suppliers and equipment vendors.
  • Accountable for providing long term solutions and daytoday support to all operating teams having issues with troubleshooting problem analysis equipment failures etc.
  • Ensure proper selection training development and motivation of the technical team and leaders to maximize current and future performance.
  • Capital project development and postapproval management.
    Manage and schedule project elements to ensure minimal interruption to plant operations.
  • Deliver finished projects as designed on time and on budget with no safety food safety or environmental issues.
  • Develops and/or maintains Key Performance Indicators for tracking and reporting the performance of the maintenance and engineering function (supplier performance equipment reliability overall equipment effectiveness etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in engineering and 5 plus years of related experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) knowledge and implementation experience required
  • Strong critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely in both written and oral formats.
  • High level of leadership skills organizational planning teamwork analytical reasoning and adaptability.
  • Proficiency with applicable computer software packages including AutoCAD Microsoft Word Excel and ERP systems
  • Strong interpersonal technical and presentation skills required.
  • Possess advanced technical skills in the mechanical/electrical fields (e.g. PLCs instrumentation mechanical engineering etc.) and can lead resource planning efforts in a large manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems work order process preventive/predictive maintenance TPM etc.
  • Knowledge in facilities to include wastewater energy use boilers and HAVC System and related energy/ cost savings

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall direction coordination and evaluation of the Engineering and Maintenance department at the plant
  • Direct reports include Maintenance Manager and related staff
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities according to the organizations policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and oral formats.
